Born amidst the cultural tapestry of Chengdu, Sichuan in 1959, the photographer embarked on a journey of visual exploration that transcended mere documentation.
Enlisting in the military in 1978, his four-year tenure as a flight crew member within a naval aviation unit bestowed upon him a profound sense of temporal and spatial metamorphosis, thus birthing a distinctive perspective through which to observe the world.

1978年参军,曾在海军某航空兵部队飞行四年,在天上飞行的时候,感受到了不一样的时空转换,建立了不同的观看世界的方式。
之后,受到美国诗人庞德照片的启示,开始为中国文艺青年拍照片,他们是中国文化艺术的推动者。九十年代中期为马克·吕布做助手,深受“马格兰”图片报道的影响。
先后出版《天堂之鸟——三毛摄影诗歌集》《我们这一代》《跟着马克·吕布拍中国》《In China When It All Began》《肖全金川》《肖全和妲妲的世界》《ECHO永远的三毛》等摄影书籍。(出版书籍曾两次获得中国最美图书奖)。
其中《我们这一代》的国际版由RIZZOLI出版社出版,在美国现代艺术博物馆(MOMA)等世界重要的艺术书店,与读者分享。
多年来,在海内外的展览众多。现担任联合国教科文组织国际文化促进基金会(IFPC)委员。近十年来,在拍摄《时代的肖像》,为当下的中国人留下时代的记忆。
《我们这一代》
是一本肖全历时十年完成的“新时期文化艺术界人物影像集”,记录了1980-1990年代一线文艺工作者群像。20世纪90年代,姜文、巩俐、窦唯、崔健、三毛、张艺谋、贾平凹、陈凯歌、杨丽萍、余华、王安忆、陈丹青、唐朝乐队……他们在肖全的镜头下展现出自我的真实,或安静、或张扬、或痛苦、或思索。
这也是一部关于中国20世纪80年代末至20世纪90年代的个人的引人入胜的文献,捕捉到了中国经济改革的第一个十年,社会的剧烈变化。自1996年出版以来,至今已持续畅销二十多年。
《时代的肖像》
起源于2012年,联合国在巴西里约热内卢召开“人类可持续发展大会”,肖全收到好友演员周迅和导演杜家毅的邀请,要为联合国做一个公益的拍摄,拍中国普通老百姓对未来20年的期许。
来自北京200多个各行各业各民族的普通老百姓参与了此次项目,在北京七棵树肖全和团队花了五天时间,完成了名为 “2032:我们期望的未来”一本画册的拍摄。这些照片被放入一个时间胶囊中,存放于纽约联合国总部。
十年来,肖全已经在北京、昆明、南昌、金川、重庆、杭州、遵义、成都、哈尔滨、洛阳、郑州、桂林、西安、广州、深圳、武汉等全国十几个城市, 为当下的中国人留下了时代的记忆,并仍在继续。
